WhatsApp menja pravila bekapovanja, Android korisnici moraju biti pažljivi

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app, is implementing a new change that will affect Android users. Moving forward, users will consume their available Google Drive storage when backing up their chats, instead of receiving free storage.

This change comes after Meta, the owner of the WhatsApp platform, previously introduced end-to-end encryption for chat backups. However, users will now have to be cautious in order to avoid filling up their 15GB of available storage on Google Drive. Otherwise, they will lose the ability to create backups.

WhatsApp has already informed users of the beta version of the app about this change, which has been active since December 2023. Other users will be notified when the change takes effect, which is expected to be in the first half of 2024.

This is another step in the company’s effort to enhance the security and privacy of its users. While encryption of chat backups helps protect the content, it also requires storage space for these backups.

WhatsApp remains one of the most popular messaging apps, providing users with a wide range of communication capabilities. In Serbia alone, millions of people use this app daily to exchange messages, pictures, and videos.
