Steam prestao s podrškom za starije verzije Windows sistema, korisnici se preusmeravaju na nove operativne sisteme

Steam, the popular gaming platform, has announced that it will no longer provide support for older versions of Windows. This decision comes as a majority of Steam users have already transitioned to Windows 10 and 11, with only a small percentage still using older operating systems like Windows 7, 8, and 8.1.

According to a recent survey, 95.57% of Steam users are now on Windows 10 or 11, while only 2% use Linux and 1.5% utilize Mac. These statistics indicate that less than 1% of Steam’s user base continues to rely on outdated versions of Windows.

As a result, Steam will cease to function on devices running Windows 7, 8, and 8.1, effectively cutting off access for users still clinging to these operating systems. Similarly, support for macOS versions 10.13 and 10.14 will also be discontinued from February 15th.

Starting from January 1st, 2024, installations of Steam Client on devices running these older operating systems will no longer receive security updates or any other software enhancements. In order to continue using Steam, users will be compelled to upgrade to newer versions of Windows.

It’s important to note that while the official support will be terminated, the Steam platform is expected to continue functioning on older operating systems for some time. However, users are strongly advised to migrate to newer operating systems to ensure access to the latest updates and features.
