Revolutionizing Video Creation: PlaiDay AI Tool

PlaiDay, a groundbreaking AI tool developed by Kris DeVol, former co-founder of MySpace Inc., is transforming the way we create videos from text. Leveraging artificial intelligence, PlaiDay converts text into customized video creations effortlessly. In just a few simple steps, users can generate three-second video clips by typing in instructions. For instance, typing “male disco dancer from the 1970s” produces an animated dancer busting out high-energy moves. With the option to add your own photos, the dancer in the video will even resemble you.

“When we started MySpace back in 2003, the average person couldn’t create their own website,” DeVol shared in an interview. “Artificial intelligence is the next frontier for community and storytelling.”

DeVol, a serial entrepreneur best known for co-founding the social networking site MySpace, which he sold to News Corp. for $580 million in 2005, has also ventured into the world of mobile gaming with his company Jam City.

His latest venture, Plai Labs Inc., raised $32 million in a funding round led by venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz in January. Participants in the round also included Coinbase Global Inc. and United Talent Agency.

While there are several competitors in the market, such as Midjourney with over 13 million users on the chat app Discord, who use sentences like “cat playing with a hat and a red baseball bat” to generate corresponding images, and Pika Labs, another text-to-video AI generator with 424,000 Discord users, DeVol points out that PlaiDay stands apart by offering personalization.

Training AI models can be exceptionally expensive. Plai Labs plans to charge Discord users who extensively utilize the advanced features of the tool or potentially offer the AI platform to other companies for their use.
