Qualcomm najavljuje brži procesor od Apple M3 za PC i laptop računare

Qualcomm recently announced the release of its latest processor, the Snapdragon X Elite, which will be integrated into PC and laptop computers. This processor, manufactured using 3nm technology, brings significant improvements in performance and promises faster operations and tasks that utilize multiple cores.

The San Diego-based company claims that the Snapdragon X Elite is even 21% faster than its Apple M3 competition, although this experience may vary due to the different operating systems that power them.

A recent Geekbench 6 test showed that the Snapdragon X Elite achieved a score of 15,300 points, while the Apple M3 lagged behind with a score of 12,154 points. However, it is important to note that Qualcomm omitted a crucial detail from these results – the power limit of the processor. All processors have a power limit that affects their performance, but with higher energy consumption. The Snapdragon X Elite offers two power levels – 23W and 80W, where the 80W power consumption promises better performance but also generates more heat.

According to a Qualcomm PR manager, comparing Apple and Qualcomm processors is not straightforward because they operate on different ecosystems – MacOS and Windows. Although MacOS is generally considered a better operating system than Windows, it is claimed that Qualcomm’s hardware is very good, which could result in a better user experience when working with the Windows system.

Qualcomm advises users to wait until the first laptops with Snapdragon platforms arrive on the market before making a decision to purchase a new computer. While the Snapdragon X Elite appears to be a highly capable processor for the PC platform, it will take some time to see how machines with this processor perform in real-world usage.
