Organizations Prioritize Increased Productivity as Primary Outcome of AI Implementation: A Fresh Perspective

For the first time, organizations are reporting increased productivity as the primary outcome of artificial intelligence (AI) implementation, according to a report released by Capgemini, Sogeti, and OpenText. This shift in focus indicates a change in testing philosophy, with organizations now placing greater tolerance on errors that can be quickly and efficiently resolved.

The report further confirms that sustainable IT technology is becoming increasingly appealing to quality teams. A vast majority (97%) believe that quality engineering is an active part of sustainable development within their organizations, with over half (55%) highlighting the environmental benefits of sustainable IT technology.

Over 70% of organizations value a Testing Center of Excellence (TCoE) more than traditional QA practices on a project. This highlights a transition towards agile quality management, which emphasizes continuous improvement, adaptability, and customer-centricity.

Significantly, respondents prioritize the development of skills such as SQL/Python/C#/Java (42%) and CI/CD (39%) for quality engineers, over traditional testing skills like automation (28%) and performance tools (24%).

“It is interesting to see the role that AI can play, particularly in generating test cases and automating quality procedures, as well as the importance of quality practices in delivering value to users and end-users,” said Mark Buenen, Global Leader for Quality Engineering and Testing at Capgemini Group.
