Novo istraživanje o bojama Neptuna i Urana

According to a new study, which challenges the popular belief about the color of the planet Neptune, it is suggested that both planets share a similar hue, with Neptune being only slightly bluer than Uranus. This research, conducted at the University of Oxford, indicates that the misconception about Neptune’s color was created due to the heightened contrast in the images taken by NASA’s Voyager 2 during its flyby in the 1980s.

Professor Patrick Irvin, the lead author of the study, stated that Uranus remains mild and dull, while Neptune appears rather washed out when its true color is reconstructed. It is explained that the color of these planets is a result of the high levels of methane in their atmospheres, which absorb green and red light.

Previous research had suggested that Neptune is slightly bluer than Uranus due to a more transparent layer of aerosols in its atmosphere. However, new findings reveal that both planets have a pale blue-green hue.

This study has also shed light on the mystery of Uranus’ color change with the seasons. Observations have shown that the planet appears more green during summer and winter when its polar regions are oriented towards Earth and the Sun.
