Google’s experimental chatbot Bard has the potential to pave the way for the development of a new product that could attract a staggering 2 billion users, according to the director at the Reuters NEXT conference in New York.
Bard allows users to brainstorm and find information with the help of artificial intelligence. Jack Krawczyk, product lead, stated in an interview that Bard lays the foundation for attracting even more users to Google. One opportunity is to integrate Bard’s collaborative responses with Google Assistant, which sets timers and executes commands. These two products will first be connected through mobile devices in the coming months, introducing a larger number of people to artificial intelligence.
Google Assistant is currently being utilized on over a billion devices, according to company data.
The development goals for artificial intelligence showcase the ambitions of Alphabet, Google’s parent company. Alphabet has already achieved six products with billions of users, such as Gmail and YouTube.
This also highlights the growing competition in the field. Amazon.com has pledged to enhance their Alexa assistant with similar generative artificial intelligence, while OpenAI recently added voice commands to ChatGPT, along with other conversational abilities.
The way users gather information is likely to evolve over time. Bank of America analysts reported that Bard experienced a 2% increase in visits in October, reaching a total of 8.7 million visits. However, its main competitor ChatGPT recorded faster growth. According to analysts, traffic to Google Search decreased by 0.4%.
