Leaked benchmark lists for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU have surfaced online, revealing the impressive capabilities of this graphics chip. While these are synthetic tests, they provide insight into the card’s abilities compared to its competition.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is an entry-level product in the RTX 40 “SUPER” series. This card aims to compete with the Radeon RX 7800 XT, which is targeted towards the 1440P+ segment with 16GB of VRAM. However, what sets the RTX 4070 SUPER apart is its ability to achieve performance levels almost on par with the RTX 4070 Ti, at an affordable price.

According to leaked information, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is available in AD104-350 or AD103-175 SKU (PG141 SKU 335) configurations, with both versions featuring the same 7,168 cores. The GPU will be equipped with 48MB of L2 cache memory while retaining 12GB of GDDR6X memory over a 192-bit interface. The card’s power consumption has been increased by 20W compared to the existing RTX 4070, totaling 220W.

In terms of performance, it is expected that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER will be approximately 14% faster than the RTX 4070 Non-SUPER. The card will also feature a new CEM 5.1 Gen5 power connector. According to synthetic test results, the GPU achieved 195,384 points in OpenCL tests and 219,237 points in CUDA tests.

Although these tests showed that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER outperforms the RX 7900 XTX in OpenCL, it is worth noting that it is 5.5% slower than the RTX 4070 Ti. In terms of CUDA tests, the RTX 4070 SUPER provides 98% of the performance of the RTX 4070 Ti. However, actual gaming performance may vary.

Compared to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Non-SUPER, the SUPER variant showcases a performance boost of 15% in OpenCL tests and 18% in CUDA benchmark tests.

With a lower price compared to the RTX 4070 Ti, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER could be a significant surprise in the market. While AMD’s offerings, such as the RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 GRE, may perform well in the retail market, the competitive prices offered by the RTX 4070 SUPER, along with RTX 4070 Ti-level performance, could be a turning point. We expect more information about this card to be revealed at NVIDIA’s presentation at CES 2024, which we will be closely following.
