With telecommunications operators processing hundreds of petabytes of data in their networks daily, the amount of data being transmitted globally is only expected to increase to over 180 zettabytes by 2025.

To meet this demand for data processing and analysis, telecommunications operators are increasingly turning to generative artificial intelligence (AI), which improves efficiency and productivity across all industries.

NVIDIA recently announced the AI foundry service, a comprehensive solution for creating and optimizing custom generative AI models. This service includes the NVIDIA AI Foundation Models, NVIDIA NeMo framework, tools, and the NVIDIA DGX Cloud AI supercomputer and services.

Amdocs, a leading provider of software and services for telecommunications and media, will utilize the AI foundry service to optimize custom large language models (LLM) for the telecommunications and media industry. These models will enhance the implementation of generative AI in their business activities, ranging from customer experience to network operations. The LLMs will be powered by NVIDIA accelerated computing, integrated into Amdocs’ amAIz framework.

This collaboration builds upon the previously announced partnership between Amdocs and Microsoft, enabling service providers to adopt these applications in a secure and reliable environment, including both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.

While preliminary applications of generative artificial intelligence have used large datasets, businesses are increasingly striving to develop custom models that cater to their specific industry needs.

By training models based on proprietary data, telecommunications operators can provide tailored solutions that deliver more accurate results for their requirements.

To simplify the development, configuration, and implementation of these custom models, Amdocs is integrating the new NVIDIA AI foundry service.

Equipped with these new capabilities of generative artificial intelligence, service providers can enhance performance, optimize resource utilization, and scale their operations flexibly to meet future needs.

NVIDIA and Amdocs are exploring several use cases of generative AI to streamline and improve operations, providing secure, cost-effective, and high-performance generative artificial intelligence capabilities.

Initial use cases include customer support, accelerating the resolution of customer queries by leveraging information from the company’s entire database.

Furthermore, there is ongoing exploration of generating solutions for configuration, coverage, or performance in network operations to address issues in real-time.
