In a stunning turn of events, the hacking group known as Rhysida has successfully breached Sony’s renowned company, Insomniac Games, stealing an astonishing 1.67 TB of data. Despite their demand for a ransom of $2 million, the hackers were unsuccessful in obtaining it and opted to release the stolen information instead.

Amidst the plethora of internal HR documents and screenshots of employee conversations on the Slack application, one of the primary focuses of this cyber attack revolves around the upcoming game, Wolverine. The leaked files contain intricate details about level design, characters, and exclusive images from the highly anticipated game.

Amongst the released files, a signed publishing agreement between Sony and Marvel has been discovered, encompassing three upcoming X-Men games. The first of the trio will be Wolverine, while the titles of the remaining two games still remain undisclosed.

Interestingly, Sony had allocated no less than $120 million per game, emphasizing the significant investment poured into each project. The planned release date for Wolverine is set for September 1, 2025, with the other two games slated to be launched between 2029 and 2033.

The hackers from the Rhysida group claim that it took them a mere 20 to 25 minutes to execute the attack, attributing their motivation solely to financial gain. Their message is stark and clear: “We were well aware that developers working on such games would be easy targets.”
