One of the most renowned TV hosts, Jay Leno, recently dedicated an episode of his popular show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” to the famous 1988 “Yugo GVS” car. In a conversation with his collaborator Jeff Dana, Leno unveiled intriguing details about this car that marked an era.

The “Yugo” was synonymous with the Yugoslav car industry, and in one episode of the show, Leno explained that most of the electric parts were made in Slovenia, the interior and brakes were manufactured in Croatia, the electronic engine components in Banja Luka, and the seat belts were produced in North Macedonia. All these parts were assembled in Serbia, Leno emphasized.

Although Leno wasn’t sure of Serbia’s exact location during the conversation, the “Yugo” remained a symbol of the Yugoslav auto industry. Despite its drawbacks, this car received a positive evaluation from Leno.
